This book “Atonement of a Buddhist Brahmin” is based on the life of Kumaril Bhatta, the main creator of Uttara-Mimamsa, who immolated himself in the burning fire of straw to atone for the sin of betraying his Buddhist teacher. Kumaril Bhatt was a propagator and spokesperson of Brahmin religion in the eighth century and was a main promoter of Uttara-Mimamsa. He was a professor of Uttara-Mimamsa in the world’s first university, Nalanda, and was a contemporary of Shankaracharya, the originator of Advaita philosophy of life. Shankar, the originator of monotheism, had come to supreme pose the Advaita philosophy by defeating Kumaril in scripture debate with the intention of unifying the spiritual schools of thought scattered throughout India under the flag of his philosophy. But when Shankar reached Nalanda, half of Kumaril’s body was burnt in the fire of straw. Kumaril was burning himself alive in the fire of straw to atone for the sin of betrayal and betrayal of his Buddhist teacher.
