ILIAD

“ILIAD “ is the story of last year of Trojan war which ended with the fall of Troy. Troy prince Paris took away Helen, the beautiful queen of Sparta, when her husband Menelaos was absent. Achaia(Greece)with supporter states invaded Ilia(Troy) and the war lasted 10 years. “Iliad” though a narrative epic of last year of the war, sequentially presents flashbacks of incidents leading to the war, courses of the war and concludes indicating the fall of Troy. It depicts heroic fights of Agmemnon, Odysseus, Nestor, Menelaos, Petroklos and later Achilles for Achaians and that of Hector, Glaukos, Sarpedon, Dolon, Paris; who stood for Troy’s defence. The Gods and Goddesses of Olympus including Zeus had their roles in the war for both sides. Achilles took revenge of his friend’s death by killing Hector, who was defender of Troy city. “Iliad “ends with the burial of Hector and it signals the fall of Troy.
